Invertational ready to go to the next level
She was explosive when winning the TAB Federal (1200m) first up a fortnight ago and Canberra Trainer Matthew Kelley thinks the best is yet to come for his mare Invertational, who may be targeted at next year’s Country Championships.
The daughter of Invader found herself at the tail of the field that day and showed a nice turn-of-foot to finish ahead of the well-fancied Danny’s St Darci, who entered the contest with stakes form.
While excellent that day, Kelley says we should be expecting even better when she contests Friday’s TAB Federal over 1400m.
“There’s absolutely no doubt she’s taken improvement from that run.” Kelley said. “Off her most recent gallop, she’s come on enormously.”
Despite a couple of set-back riddled preparations, Invertational boasts a handy record having won five of her 15 starts.
“She had a number of set backs in her past two preps and the results showed but this time in it has been smooth sailing.” Kelley said.
“She’s very versatile and very talented, she’s got the Country Champs on her radar.”
“We’ll look to go back from the gate (barrier 7 of 9) and watch it all unfold in front of her before having the last crack.”
Invertational faces a competitive race on Friday with Barbara Joseph, Paul & Matt Jones Manderboss bringing City-form into the contest, while Rob Potter’s Tavolo and Matthew Dale’s Capital Heart are beautifully in at the weights.
Kelley will line up two other live chances on the day with Unravel, a new addition to the stable having joined from Paul Messara & Leah Gavanrich, lining up in the Benchmark 65 1000m contest. Grins, who showed talent in her first preparation, also returns first-up in the Benchmark 50 1000m.
